the thorns

this evening the sun was shining through these thorns - blood red and and absolutely beautiful.

 “Some people are like thorns.
But you have to let them be thorns, because thorns can't turn into petals.
 The trick is not letting them prick you; never let a thorn prick you!”
C. JoyBell C.
   The year's at the spring
    And day's at the morn;
    Morning's at seven;
    The hillside's dew-pearled;
    The lark's on the wing;
    The snail's on the thorn:
    God's in His heaven—
    All's right with the world!
Robert Browning
 "My Grandfather always said that living is like licking honey off a thorn."
Louis Adamic
 "One thorn of experience is like a whole wilderness of warning."
James Russell Lowell
 "And the heart that is soonest awake to the flowers is always the first to be touch'd by the thorns."
Thomas Moore
 "Truths and roses have thorns about them."
Henry David Thoreau

 "Roses and thorns are parts of the same plant.
Somehow though, some people are concerned mainly about the roses.
The rose is not on the plant for more than a week, but the thorns are there forever.
 Roses are teaching that the beauty of life will bloom, once you have taught yourself the lessons given by living with the thorns.”
Grigoris Deoudis
