frost survivors

nearly frozen and tattered, but a handful of color and fragrance nonetheless.
we had frost early this week but was able to gather these as i took a quiet walk around the garden with my snips.
above is the cold version of my favorite rose, st. swithin.

i used chocolate scented geranium for a collar of foliage.
a few sprigs of borage in front of the delicate scabiosa.
really, i have seriously fallen in love with yarrow.
you'll be seeing a lot more of it next year.
i think it is absolutely the best secret ingredient to a beautiful bouquet!

 matricaria below.
