i debated whether to list the goldenrod; it is so dropsy....
here is a wreath i made with it and some yarrow.
once the goldenrod is sprayed it seems to hold just fine.
i researched many hairsprays, and chose tresemm√© mega firm control
because it contained the least amount of water.

late autumn and thanksgiving

a customer asked me to make her 2 arrangements for her table for thanksgiving.
i used mostly purchased flowers from market,
but i did have the pleasure of foraging for some of the foliage and berries by the side of the road.
and a turkey feather.
from market:  ranunculus, roses, seeded eucalyptus, waxflower, and solidaster.

then my 4 kids and i made our way down to pennsylvania, and my mom had gathered these beautiful fruits, vegetables, and gourds for her table.

this little handful was one of the last from the chrysanthemums i grew.
seaton's ruby, river city, and kotoi no kaori.

sarah smile

this was such a happy day with our sarah, and i love to go back and look at these photos,
and have decided to share more of them with you.
"sara smile" is a song by hall and oates from back in the day.

with lots of fragrant hosta, some delphinium laterals, elderberries in the green stage, queen anne's lace, grape vine, baptesia foliage, agrostemma, white scabiosa,
huldine clematis,

pale yellow yarrow (this is pink, but the yellow worked) and some hydrangea.

then we moved on to the next bouquet....
here i chose the flowers and put them in a bucket,
and then began to gather them up in my hand.
with queen anne's lace, yarrow, hydrangea, scabiosa, astilbe,
and roses from heirloom roses -
james galway rose
lexy roses
eden roses
added a few kinds of sweet peas,

and lastly, some baptesia foliage, and handed them off to sarah.  :)
